Ladder Rules

  1. The aim of the ladder is to encourage you to play anyone listed, the handicaps being used to make sure the games are close.
  2. Best of 3 games, American Scoring to 15. At 14 all, next point wins. Also, when playing opponents whose handicap is much higher than yours (or lower), you cannot have a start with more than 6 points ie if I play someone and he is +6 and I am -6 you have to score it from these positions, however if a player is on +2 and plays a player on -2, this match can be scored from 4-0 to the higher handicapped players advantage.
  3. Check and agree the starting score by adjusting your handicaps, ie a Plus 3, playing a Minus 1 would mean that the Plus 3 Player would start on 4 and the Minus 1 player would start on 0.
  4. The match results including scores of each game to be e-mailed IMMEDIATELY by the winner to Wycombe Squash email. The Ladder above will be adjusted accordingly. In the event of a draw (ie run out of time) still report your match result. Each player automatically gains 1 point for every game he plays (win, lose or draw). In a calender month, the player with the most points wins a prize.
  5. The player with the higher handicap always has the first service (in every game – whatever the result of each game).
  6. In this Ladder flying challenges are allowed, ie you can challenge anyone on the ladder to a game. If you win you take their position and s/he drops down one slot on the ladder.
  7. Please take into consideration your opponents other commitments - just beause you can play at 4pm on a Friday you must give your opponent options on court times.
  8. You should play each opponent only twice in a calendar month.
  9. To assist the ladies when playing men, ladies are allowed 2 serves. The lady always has first serve in every game. If the first serve point is lost or the service is down or out, the lady gets another serve. (This rule applies on every serve the lady has throughout the game ie the man must win 2 points to win serve back and obtain 1 point). Normal American points apply on ladies second serve or when the man is serving This does not apply when ladies play each other.
  10. Every month two trophies will be awarded, one for the most improved player (we will all have the opportunity to vote on this) and one for the player that has played most challenge matches.
